Ten Bucks a Ticket Movie Reviews: Reno 911 - Bust or Busted?

In the long tradition of police ensemble casts visiting Miami Beach, your favorite little batch of rejects from The Biggest Little City in the World get invited to a National Police Conference (mostly because every law enforcement body was) and enventually get turned away from said conference when their passes and hotel keys are lost. The officers of the Reno Sherriff's Dept, rather than lament their pitiful set of circumstances, decide to use their time constructively, getting drunk, laid, and painting the town red. While they're sleeping off their respective hangovers, the Conference is hit with a biological attack and all of Miami's finest are put out of commission. This leaves the deputy mayor with only one choice: to put the whole of Miami in the only remaining officers not poisoned in the attack, The Reno Sherriff's Dept!

Look, the movie's not for everyone. In fact, I've heard mixed reviews. Some have said that they've experienced dead air in spots and just many, many unfunny moments. As for me, I really loved the film! Keep in mind, I'm a Reno 911 fan. I'm also a State fan. I absolutely adored Wet Hot American Summer. Hell, I even dug Stella. So, take my opinion on this matter with a grain of salt. I am not your average viewer. I am the sort of guy that when I heard that there would be a reunion of the State cast, I got all giddy inside (and sure enough when I saw them all in their respective roles, I lost it).

So here's my most impartial unbiased advice I can give on this movie: if you've never heard of Reno 911, The State, Wet Hot American Summer, Stella (or possibly don't even like them.... HETHEN!!) and you feel the need to see a funny cop movie, then watch Super Troopers. However if you're like me and you've seen one or more of those things listed above then see Reno 911: Miami, BUT maybe you should wait... Reno 911 is a good flick, but even I see that it's the sort of movie that might be better received with all of the unrated footage thrown in and enjoyed over a couple of beers and tacos. So save this movie for a rent. Remember, I still highly endorse this flick. It's funny as hell, to the right audience... and it should be enjoyed in the right environment. It's going to be a cult movie, I'm pretty sure of that.Speaking of which, when are we going to get together over a couple of brews/tacos and watch Wet Hot American Summer??

8.4/10 Side Recommendations: Wet Hot American Summer, Super Troopers, MTV's The State, Stella, Police Academy: Assignment Miami Beach
