Earth Girls are Easy: for anyone unfamiliar with this flick, it's essentially the story of a valley girl, played by Geena Davis (because when you think valley girl, you think Geena Davis), whose life is thrown assunder when three aliens crash land in her pool. Hillarity ensues, trust me on this one Well for some reason, this movie popped into my mind and I was deeply troubled for the better part of an afternoon. You see, the aliens in the movie were played by Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans... and Jeff Goldblum (one of these things is not like the others...). So I was wondering what motivation a casting director would have to place two great comedians (who'd later become gods in their own right) side by side with a figgety, semi-awkward guy and then make that guy the hunky lead?? So at first I thought, "Hey they're trying to surround these relatively unfunny people (Davis & Goldblum) with funny people" because Julie Brown was in it too... and she's kinda funny. -But then you have to remember that Goldblum doesn't even have that many lines anyway..... so.... then.... why???!!!!??? Why Why Why??!! Trapped in the Closet: What strikes me about Trapped in the Closet was that someone..... someone who'd gone to college, someone who'd spent years working to get to their current position in corporate America, someone with a brain in their head actually decided to give the money to R. Kelly for his hip hopera and subsequent movie based on his hip hopera. I mean someone had to have read it, realized there was a midget shitting himself in the script and then still decided to give it the green light. It just.... well it just... doesn't make sense.... By the way, if you haven't seen it... you must. It defies logic in every sense of the word! Conclusion: Sometimes driving yourself crazy over a personal situation, though seemingly logical at the time, becomes something completely different once you gain the perspective of someone else in the same boat as yourself. Thanks Mike. You helped me out a lot too. |
