Okay, so I was at Inland Invasion yesterday and all together I had a pretty great time. I really hadn't been to a concert in a while and I missed just seeing good people that I can dig, though you gotta sit through a lotta crap that you dont, but surprisingly there was very little of that. So here's a breakdown of what was there:
From one look at the run down I figured I'd be in for a good time at the very least. There were a couple of people that I'd never really paid much mind (Bloc Party, Arcade Fire) to and a couple of people I'd have to sit through (311, Oasis) in order to get to the good stuff (Cake, Weezer, Beck). So we get there just as Kasabian is finishing their set on stage two, which kinda got me irked because I kinda dig them, but hey it's my own damn fault for not leaving earlier. Then I got the treat of really the entire show for me, Fucking Fishbone!!! I'd never seen them live, but let's just say that those guys know how to put on a show! Open with poetry, crowd surfing while singing a fast song, and all their hits makes for one awesome show. So then we headed over to stage one in order to a good spot on the lawn before the main show and we were treated to a fucking drummer and a dj! At the time I hadn't realized how bad it was that I was watching a fucking dj and a drummer for an hour when that time could have been spent in better ways. So here's a basic rundown, take nots if you must... DJ AM and Travis Barker- A DJ and a fucking drummer have a duel on stage.... hahahahahahahahahahaha, yeah I know, pretty lame. He's basically a mash up dj, not bad, but they took time away from what would be the biggest disappointment of the night, so I officially hate them for that. The Bravery- Good band with vocals that sound Cure-ish. Solid performance, nothing to scream home about. Arcade Fire- If you don't know who these guys are, then I suggest you check them out soon. They're just fucking awesome with a sound like none I've heard before. The best way to describe them is that they're a school marching band that got together and decided to make rock. Great stuff and a great performance. Live- Great live, good songs, nuff said Garbage- Pissed me off because they did mostly new stuff and I could have cared less. Sucked because they only played like two songs you can remember, but at least they weren't bad. Jet- Very awesome. Just like they're fellow Australian rockers, AC/DC, those guys know how to do a live show. Great stuff. Madness- What the fuck do you think, man???? It's FUCKING Madness! 311- Performed well. I knew about half the songs they played, but got annoyed by how many douche bags there were around me that couldn't hold back their douche baggines long enough to act civilized during their performance, more on that later. Beck- Again, it's Beck... he's fucking great. Need I say more? Weezer- Probably the show stealer, no doubt. They were fucking on and really made me a bigger fan. Oasis- Okay, so let me put it this way: I like Oasis in the way that most people like MC Hammer, you dig it when their music comes on, but for the most part you couldn't name all of their albums or even know more than a few of their singles. So they played and it was relatively good, but I couldn't have cared less until they were playing the songs I knew.... but they played long, and though I didn't care much before, I knew I would really care later, because... Cake- The reason I went to Inland Invasion in the first place, one of the best and unique bands to come around in a long time... was cut short!!! They got to play like four fucking songs! What kind of bhullshit is that?? I was so pissed! I didn't really likd Oasis before, now I fucking hate them!! Goddamn it, fuck Oasis and fuck KROQ for taking away my Cake!! That one thing put a damper on a my whole night, and sadly DJ AM and Travis what's his name were supposed to be last. They should have been fucked for time, but NO, some stupid ass producer decided to change things last minute... goddamn it, fuck them all, fuck them all to hell... Hightlights of the Night 1.) In the middle of 311's Amber, which happens to be one of their more calming songs, a fight broke out behind us, and I mean right behind us. A buncha guys all tussling and punchin until security ran in. No big deal, though the fight was pretty good, until security tried to stop one of the last to join in guys. He basically said no and gave some excuse, walking away. They kinda let him go but then caught up to him like a foot later and he was still like no, fuck this, so he runs. The best part was that the security initially chasing him was a portly fellow with a very bublous gut. I couldn't help but laugh my ass off. Eventually they caught and handcuffed everyone of them, but goddamn it you gotta love portly rent-a-cop chasing dumbass kid! It's classic! 2.) Nine dollars for a fucking gyro... not even a great gyro... NINE dollars! Nine! Dollars! NINE! DOLLARS! NINE!! 3.) Holy shit was there a lot of weed there!!! I couldn't believe it! I mean, I got frisked as I was walking in and I was still figuring that there'd be some weed there.... SOME weed! No, not at Inland Invasion. Shit, it was almost like every fourth person was hiding something up there asshole! What the fuck, man? 4.) There was an appalling number of attention whores at Inland Invasion. I was just shocked. It was like a whole generation of girls vying for slut of the decade suddenly decided to hold their annual jamborree on the same date and location as the Invasion. It was sick! I just couldn't believe it. The worst of which I saw when I was in line for my nine dollar gyro. This chick walks past me in a tight pink shirt with the word, "Bukkake", across it! Now I wanted to grab her and ask her if she knew what it meant cause I'd like to assume she's a complete fucking imbecile rather than dirty trash bag ho of the decade, but I figured the conversation would go a little something like: Me- Do you even know what that means? Slut- Doesn't it mean happiness and joy? Me- Well, for a buncha japanese guys, yeah. So yeah, that was my night. I had a pretty great time, until the end, but overall, I'm glad I shelled out the cash. It was an experience to say the least. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
